Eligibility

To gain admission to a UK Dual Credit course, in a partner high school, a student must meet the following criteria: 

  • Completed the 10th Grade
  • Have a 2.5 overall unweighted GPA on a 4.0 Scale in all previous high school coursework. 
  • Be recommended by the school guidance counselor or designee.
  • Be a student at one of our Network Partner schools.  

The recommendation and advisement from the local guidance counselor about the appropriate courses for each student will serve as the primary admission criteria. Specific criteria and/or prerequisite courses may be established, with the approval of UK, at the local level.

Admissions

The UK Center for Next Generation Leadership and University of Kentucky personnel in collaboration with participating school personnel facilitate and administer the student selection process.

All student applications will be reviewed by the UK Center for Next Generation Leadership and University of Kentucky personnel to determine eligibility and admission to the Next Gen Scholars program and the University of Kentucky. 

Students must submit the required application materials to the University of Kentucky by the appropriate deadlines.

Consent For Release of Information on Academic Record and Progress

Applications that are incomplete at the time of the submission deadline will be ineligible for entry into the program. All students are subject to the deadlines set forth by the University of Kentucky.

Following review, students selected as UK Next Generation Scholars will be notified by mail and/or email. Students may also receive information concerning their admission status in communications from their local guidance counselor or designee that serves as the official liaison with the University of Kentucky for information on admittance.
