LEXINGTON, Ky. (February 15, 2021) - Winter Storm Uri is racing across the United States, bringing heavy snow, sleet and ice to dozens of states, including Kentucky. This comes on the heels of an ice storm that impacted much of the eastern half of the U.S. last week, rendering hundreds of thousands of people without power for many days, and additional power outages are expected with this latest storm.

In response to this inclement weather and power outages, the University of Kentucky is extending our Regular Decision application for undergraduate admission deadline until next Monday, February 22. This decision is rooted in our students-first philosophy, putting student safety and well-being first in everything we do.

Much like our test-optional policy for 2021-22 admission, we do not want lack of power or access to the internet to be a barrier for any student who wants to become a Wildcat.

Additionally, the William C. Parker Diversity Scholarship Program application deadline has also been extended until Monday, February 22.

Please note that a completed application requires the submitted application, an official high school transcript (students should request their school counselor to send their transcript to UK), official ACT/SAT scores (sent from the testing agency; optional, only required if want them to be considered for admission) and the application fee ($50 domestic/$60 international). If you are unsure if you qualify for a fee waiver, contact your admissions recruiter for assistance.

Our admissions team is available for you or your family if you have any questions or concerns.

Students are encouraged to complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible (if you have not already done so). Completing the FAFSA gives us the best information to prepare an accurate financial aid notification for the student. Please be sure to include UK’s school code, 001989, on your FAFSA application.

Be safe and well, future Wildcats!
